What is this blog?

This blog is about my crafts as I'm sure it's obvious, but rather specifically I post about my quilling. I suppose I didn't include quilling in the title simply because that would limit what I could put in this blog. In other words, 99% of this is in fact quilling.

There ARE periods where I don't post anything for a long time, but that doesn't mean I'm done with quilling! I'll post again. Eventually.

3D quilled cupcakes

I decided I wanted to make these 3D cupcakes because I saw them on google images when I was looking for quilled cupcakes for my card...and I couldn't resist, I just had to make one!  They looked so cute.  There is a kit you can buy to make them, but I was just like, 'pch, I don't need a 15 dollar kit to tell me how to make it'.
At first I was just going to make one.  I started with the chocolate frosting and the rainbow bottom, and my sister told me it didn't look right.  I reluctantly agreed.  So I gave the rainbow bottom a plain top, and the chocolate one a plain bottom!  The only reason I made rainbow in the first place is because I needed a lot of strips for it, and I just have a few multi colored packs, but luckily I had some large white as you can see!

I used a lot of strips for this.  You can see my lovely scrap sheet, LOL.  I started with 9 strips for the bottom, and I coated it in glue.  I marked the end in blue pen ever so lightly if you can see it, so I know how big I want my bottom to be, and where that ends and the other begins!

Yeah, this is only 9 of the strips, it's quite a lot...I tend to let them just drift to the floor.

I rolled another 9 strips around my tight coil, and I moved it up about an inch.  I used a little bit of the bottom, as you MAY be able to see by the blue mark.

I didn't  glue them together so that little trinkets could fit inside.

They are decently big, thanks to a lot of strips.  There are 19 strips on the bottom plus another for its "lip", and 20 for the tops!  You can see how big they are by my hands, but keep in mind I have little hands too.

I am planning to give the chocolate topped one to my uncle, and I'll put in a little Hershey Kiss, or maybe two, depending on how many fit.  I figure that something like rubber bands or paper clips could fit in it.  It would also be a cute present topper (attatching with safe, good for paper, painter's tape)!  Some little kid tiny toy could fit inside...

It's my uncle's birthday on Thursday, so I decided to make him a card!

"Chomper" Fish quilled card

Well, I updated with two things yesturday and another today.  I seem to have the streak of a lot at once, then not at all for months.  LOL.

Anyway, I made this card for my dad for father's day.  I wanted to use a sky blue paper as its background, but I looked everywhere, and we didn't have any.  Not even any scraps!  So I thought I could put water color on a piece of paper.  My little sister does water color sometimes, so I knew we would have some.  My sister helped me a little, so I put some blue on it.  She suggested to add a little green and purple (but you can't see the purple!), and I think it looks really cool.  My sister also drew the outline for the chomper fish.

Quilled "17" Birthday Card

My friend turned 17 yesturday, so I decided to make her a card (I'll see her next week).  I randomly thought of putting a bunch of quilled bits on the number 17, so I printed out a one and a seven and put a bunch of birthday quilling all over it.  There's cupcakes (very abstract cupcakes, LOL), presents, candles, balloons, birthday hats, and confetti.  This took AS long as fourth of July Lady.  It's summer, so I have the time!

Fourth of July Lady *My NEXT 3D quilled Holiday Lady*

It's been a while since I've quilled anything, much longer since I've quilled anything 3D!  Well, I made this girl yesturday! I know that not all of you live in the US, so this is our independence day.  The curly cues are an attempt at fireworks :).
